The annual Silicon Mountains 2026 technology summit, dedicated to issues of innovation financing, microelectronics, and artificial intelligence, has kicked off at the Dvin Music Hall in Yerevan. The event, which opened on Tuesday, November 3, is being held in a two-day format for the first time and brings together researchers, investors, company executives, and government representatives.

The forum was organized by the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technology (UEICT) with the support of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence of Armenia. Within the framework of the summit, held under the slogan "Invest in Innovation," a technology exhibition has been set up with more than 25 corporate pavilions and 12 free stands for local startups. The venue also hosted the final of the 21st International Microelectronics Olympiad, which brought together contestants from more than 13 countries.

Development of human capital

UEICT President Armen Baldryan named education, startups, public-private partnerships, and international cooperation as the main growth factors, expressing confidence in achieving serious results within two to three years. Minister of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence Mkhitar Hayrapetyan emphasized the strategic importance of talent development:

Investing in innovation means, first and foremost, investing in human capital and its potential so that ideas can be turned into practical solutions.

The keynote speaker of the summit was American aerospace engineer and entrepreneur Kam Ghaffarian, co-founder of Axiom Space, Intuitive Machines, and X-energy, who is a laureate of the State Prize of Armenia for global contribution to the field of high technologies. On November 4, the program will focus on the International Microelectronics Forum, chip research, and semiconductor supply chains, and will conclude with the awarding of an honorary doctorate to Ghaffarian at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia and an official award ceremony with the participation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
