Apple has started beta testing AI features for Apple Watch
New Audio Intelligence features allow smartwatch owners to rewind conversations and save brief summaries of discussions.
Apple has launched beta testing for Audio Intelligence artificial intelligence technologies for Apple Watch smartwatches. As reported by TechCrunch, developers were the first to gain access to the new options as part of the iOS 27.3 test update. The set of features, first introduced at the September presentation, is intended for Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 devices.
The suite of capabilities includes recognition of important ambient sounds, identification of playing music, and two tools for working with live speech: Live Rewind and Siri Recaps. The launch of the testing was initially reported by Apple's Indian division, while the update was not initially available to users in the US.
The Live Rewind feature allows you to see the text of the last 15 seconds of heard speech: by double-pressing the Digital Crown, the excerpt is displayed on the watch screen. To protect the privacy of those around, the device emits an audible signal and displays a graphic animation. If the user does not save the fragment in the Siri app, it will be automatically deleted after 30 seconds.
The Siri Recaps tool is designed to create summary notes of business meetings or conversations. Apple representatives emphasize that the system does not store original audio recordings and does not identify speakers personally, but generates a brief summary with key points, excluding personal and financial data. The results can be viewed at the end of the day and transferred to notes.
The operation of the algorithms is powered by the S11 processor, the resources of a connected iPhone, and the secure Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. All audio processing is isolated in a hardware secure enclave and is inaccessible to third parties, as well as to Apple itself.
