The Armenian government has declared a state of emergency over the spread of the coronavirus. The regime is introduced for 30 days, until 14 April.

Gatherings of more than 20 people are banned, and schools, colleges, universities and kindergartens are closed. Entry for foreigners is restricted, while Armenian citizens can return home.

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan has been appointed commandant of the regime and will head a commission deciding on additional restrictions.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan urged citizens to stay at home where possible and not to panic. He said the country has sufficient stocks of food and medicine.
