Armenia will withdraw its lawsuits against Azerbaijan from international courts only after a peace treaty is finally signed between the two states. This was stated on November 3 by the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Lilit Makunts, at a joint meeting of standing parliamentary committees during discussions on the 2027 state budget draft, as reported by NEWS.am.

In her speech to the deputies, the Chief of Staff emphasized Yerevan's principled position regarding the defense of state interests. According to her, the Republic of Armenia will not, under any circumstances, abandon the legal protection of its positions in any international court.

Makunts noted that a compromise step is possible only within the logic of a comprehensive peace process and on a reciprocal basis.

"As for the existing disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on the logic of the peace process, a decision to withdraw lawsuits against each other can, of course, be made, but this will only happen if the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan finally sign a peace treaty," Makunts emphasized.

To support her words, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister cited Article 15 of the framework agreement, which was previously signed in Washington by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
