Trump declares no desire for mass casualties in Iran
The US President emphasized that he does not consider the conflict a war, but allowed for tough measures in case of extreme necessity.
US President Donald Trump stated that he does not currently seek the death of a large number of people in Iran, but is prepared to take such extreme measures if the corresponding necessity arises. The American leader reported this in an interview with the Fox News television channel, as reported by the TASS news agency.
During the conversation, journalists asked the head of the White House what steps he intends to take regarding Iran after the midterm elections to the US Congress scheduled for Tuesday. Commenting on possible scenarios for further actions, Trump noted the uncertainty of the situation and again emphasized that he categorically does not consider the current confrontation a war.
Let's see. I don't seek to kill a lot of people, but if we have to, we will do it. I don't seek to do that.
Assessment of the situation
The American president also expressed confidence that Washington's positions in the current crisis are extremely strong, and the opposing side has found itself in a dependent position. Trump explained that the United States has the opportunity both to end the conflict in a radical way and to avoid large-scale human casualties.
They are completely where we want them. We could end them or act magnanimously and allow thousands of people to live who would otherwise be killed in a war.
