Armenia and Azerbaijan agree on delimitation of a border section in Tavush
Four abandoned villages will pass under Baku's control
Following a meeting of the border delimitation commissions, Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on the line of the border between Armenia's Tavush Province and Azerbaijan's Gazakh district.
Under the agreement, the territories of four villages, Baghanis Ayrum, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrimli and Ghizilhajili, which were Azerbaijani until the 1990s, will pass under Azerbaijan's control.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the configuration of roads and infrastructure vital to Armenia would not change as a result. However, residents of the Armenian border villages of Kirants, Voskepar and Baghanis are voicing concerns about their safety.
It is the first practical result of the commissions' work. The sides agreed that the process will be based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
