Adobe to add licensed music to Premiere mobile app
Partnership with Universal and Warner Music Group will give video creators access to tracks from popular artists.
Adobe has announced a partnership with record labels Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to integrate a catalog of licensed music into the mobile version of the Premiere video editor. As reported by The Verge, users of the app will have access to a library of official tracks from leading global artists to quickly create trending content.
As part of the new partnership, creators will be able to add clips of popular songs up to 60 seconds long to their videos. The service will offer search and previewing of compositions, filtering by genre and duration, thematic collections from labels, and the ability to save favorite tracks to bookmarks.
Thanks to the integration of licensed music from UMG artists into Adobe Premiere for mobile devices, we are for the first time giving creators new ways to build their stories around their favorite songs, while simultaneously helping our musicians and creators find new audiences, said Universal Music Group representative Brian Stone.
In addition, the mobile Premiere will feature customizable templates already synchronized with music, which should speed up the editing process. Users will be able to export finished projects directly and publish them on supported social media platforms while complying with copyright laws.
Currently, the desktop version of Premiere Pro and the mobile app only contain royalty-free music sets, while copyrighted compositions have to be imported manually. The new feature is intended to simplify working with popular tracks and strengthen the position of Adobe's mobile editor in the competitive battle against apps like CapCut.
