Analysts link the attack to North Korean hackers
Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, has said digital assets worth 6.3 billion dollars were affected by a hack. It may be the largest theft in history.
According to the exchange, about half of the assets have been frozen, but a significant part remains in the hands of the attackers. Binance promises to "cover all losses" of customers.
Preliminary checks show the attack may have started from a compromised laptop of one of its engineers, which allowed unauthorised withdrawals.
Two analytics firms attributed the attack to the North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor. The previous record was the theft of 1.5 billion dollars from the Bybit exchange in 2025.
