OSCE Secretary General called not to rely solely on military alliances in Eurasia
Feridun Sinirlioğlu emphasized the need for diplomacy and dialogue to strengthen trust between countries at the forum in Minsk.
Ensuring security in the Eurasian space cannot be achieved solely by the forces of military alliances. Feridun Sinirlioğlu, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), stated this on November 3 in Minsk, TASS reports.
Speaking at the IV Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security, the head of the international organization emphasized that stability requires active diplomatic efforts, compliance with mutual obligations, and concrete practical steps to reduce existing risks.
According to the OSCE Secretary General, states need to develop and improve mechanisms for increasing transparency. Such tools are intended to help in resolving interstate disagreements and forming mutual trust.
Sinirlioğlu particularly noted that even in conditions of acute clash of national interests, the parties should listen to each other and maintain constant contact.
We must remember: dialogue is not a readiness to make concessions, but a manifestation of mutual responsibility, which is important today as never before.
Broad international format
The IV Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security is taking place in the capital of Belarus on November 3 and 4. More than 600 delegates representing 50 countries of the world are taking part in the work of the large-scale expert-political forum.
