The leaders held talks at a military base in Anchorage
Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held talks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. It was the first face-to-face meeting between the leaders of the two countries since 2021.
The talks in an expanded format lasted about three hours. Afterwards the leaders made brief statements without taking questions from journalists.
Trump called the meeting "extremely productive" but admitted there was no deal yet. Putin expressed hope that the understanding reached would open the way to peace in Ukraine and proposed holding the next meeting in Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would meet Trump in Washington in the coming days.
