The former Syrian president has been granted asylum in Moscow
Armed opposition forces led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham have entered Damascus. President Bashar al-Assad has left the country, ending his 24-year rule and half a century of power by the Assad family.
The opposition offensive began on 27 November and took less than two weeks: Aleppo, Hama and Homs were captured. The Syrian army offered almost no resistance.
Russian state agencies reported that Assad and members of his family had arrived in Moscow and been granted asylum.
Armenia is closely following the situation of the Armenian community in Syria, the largest part of which lives in Aleppo.
