Russia's Central Election Commission has announced the results of the nationwide vote on constitutional amendments. 77.92% of participants voted in favour and 21.27% against. Turnout was almost 68%.

Voting lasted seven days, from 25 June to 1 July, to reduce crowding at polling stations during the pandemic. Online voting was used for the first time in Moscow and the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Among other things, the amendments reset Vladimir Putin's presidential terms, allowing him to run in 2024 and 2030. Provisions on the primacy of national legislation and social guarantees were also added to the Constitution.

The opposition and independent observers from the Golos movement reported numerous violations. The Kremlin called the result a "triumphant referendum of trust" in the president.
