Israel summoned Armenia's ambassador for a "stern conversation"
Armenia's Foreign Ministry has announced the recognition of the State of Palestine. The statement says Yerevan is committed to the principles of international law, equality and peaceful coexistence of peoples.
The ministry stressed that Armenia supports resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the basis of the two-state principle. Yerevan also expressed concern about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian authorities welcomed the decision. Israel's Foreign Ministry summoned Armenia's ambassador for a "stern conversation".
Earlier in 2024 Palestine was recognised by Spain, Ireland, Norway and Slovenia.
