Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said some of Armenia's recent claims against Russia were surprising and "stir emotions", including those concerning the South Caucasus Railway.

In an interview with RBC TV Lavrov noted that the two countries have regular contacts at the level of deputy prime ministers, where any issue can be discussed, including the Russian Railways concession.

According to the minister, Moscow was surprised by the way the Armenian side raised the issue publicly.

Relations between Armenia and Russia have cooled markedly in recent years. Yerevan has frozen its participation in the CSTO and is steadily developing ties with the EU and the US.
