Dozens of supermarkets in Belgium, Luxembourg and Sweden have been hit by a suspected cyberattack on their refrigeration systems, the BBC reports.

The attack affected around 40 Delhaize stores in Belgium and Luxembourg and several ICA and Coop shops in Sweden. In Ireland 13 SuperValu stores were affected.

According to local media, food worth millions of euros had to be discarded. In one ICA store the attackers set the freezer temperature to plus 50 degrees.

It is not known who is behind the attack. Last month a similar incident affected hundreds of supermarkets in France.
