On 3 November the Central Bank of Armenia will put into circulation a silver collector coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of painter and graphic artist Grigor Khanjyan.

Khanjyan (1926–2000) is one of Armenia's best-known artists and a People's Artist of the USSR. His major monumental works include The Armenian Alphabet, Vardanank and Renaissance, created in 1992–2000.

The obverse of the coin features Khanjyan's painting In the Highlands (1972) from the National Gallery of Armenia, and the reverse a portrait of the artist from his triptych In Honour of Artists.

The 100-dram coin was struck by the Royal Dutch Mint in 925 sterling silver. It weighs 28.04 grams and measures 38.6 mm in diameter.
