Armenia takes part in the international PISA study for the first time
About 7,000 pupils from 295 schools were tested
Armenia has taken full part in the international PISA 2025 study of educational achievement for the first time. The results were presented by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan.
The study is conducted among 15-year-olds and assesses three areas: reading, mathematics and science. In 2025, 91 countries took part. In Armenia testing took place in March–May 2025, involving about 7,000 pupils from 295 schools.
According to the minister, participation in PISA had for many years been one of the goals of state education policy. Preparations began in 2022.
Andreasyan said the results on the one hand reveal problems in the education system and on the other confirm that the reforms under way are heading in the right direction. The data will be analysed in detail together with teachers.
