Part of the Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Feodosia, an Armenian church built in 1408, has collapsed. It is the second collapse at the monument this year: its bell tower fell in January.

After a corner of the building gave way, Russia's Investigative Committee opened a criminal case to establish the circumstances of the damage to the cultural heritage site.

In February the head of Feodosia's administration, Vladimir Kim, said urgent measures to preserve the church were being discussed, including a technical survey.

Armenian public organisations have long pointed to the monument's dangerous condition and called for its restoration.
