A residential building in the historic Armenian district of Majidiyeh in Tehran was damaged in US-Israeli strikes, Iran's embassy in Armenia reported.

According to the latest information, there are no fatalities among residents, but several people are believed to be trapped under the rubble. Rescue work is continuing at the site.

Majidiyeh is one of the historic Armenian neighbourhoods of the Iranian capital. Much of its infrastructure, including schools, clubs and sports facilities, was created with the participation of Iran's Armenian community.

The Armenian community of Iran is one of the oldest in the diaspora and lives mainly in Tehran, Isfahan and Tabriz.
