Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken have signed a Charter on Strategic Partnership between the two countries in Washington.

The document provides for expanded cooperation in the economy, trade, energy, security and defence, as well as support for democratic reforms and people-to-people contacts.

The sides agreed to continue talks on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy. The United States also reaffirmed its support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The charter was signed a week before Donald Trump's inauguration. Yerevan expressed confidence that the partnership will retain bipartisan support in Washington.
