First Armenia-EU summit: Costa calls it a "historic milestone"
The sides discussed trade, visa liberalisation and security
The first-ever Armenia-European Union summit has been held in Yerevan. European Council President António Costa called it a "historic milestone" in relations between the two sides.
At a joint press conference Costa congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on hosting two summits, the EPC and Armenia-EU, and thanked the Armenian government for its "generous and exceptional hospitality".
According to Costa, the meeting reflected significant progress in relations in recent years and a shared ambition to deliver "tangible benefits" for citizens, including in trade, mobility and connectivity.
Pashinyan invited European leaders to visit the Red Bridge on the border with Georgia, a symbol of the region's future transport links.
