Thousands of people attended a rally of the Tavush for the Homeland movement on Republic Square in Yerevan. It is led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, primate of the Tavush diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The movement emerged after the decision to hand over sections in Tavush to Azerbaijan. Participants walked from Tavush Province to Yerevan.

Speaking on the square, Galstanyan demanded that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resign within an hour. After the deadline expired, the participants switched to acts of civil disobedience.

The authorities say delimitation is necessary for a peace settlement and that the movement is being used by the opposition for political purposes.
